"Life is a journey through a labyrinth. We're never quite sure if we're going the right way, and even if we are, we generally end up somewhere else."

Labyrinth is a very introspective collection of songs. I had spent years saving up thoughts, feelings, and snatches of lyrics, waiting for when I would be ready to write in earnest. In fact, the first chorus of "Hey, Mama" was written when I was sixteen.

I thought the songs were all about me, about the inside of my head. But as others have listened to it, I have realized that it's about the inside of other people's heads, too. I have been astonished by the response to experiences I thought were only mine. It's quite moving and wonderful to realize that my personal experiences can reach others on a very deep level, and I thank all my fans who have shared their experiences with me, and the knowledge of how my songs have touched them.
